SBAC presents TT electronics with SC21 Award

WEYBRIDGE, UNITED KINGDOM, March 11, 2009TT electronics – integrated manufacturing services, the largest UK-owned global electronic manufacturing services provider, has entered the Society of British Aerospace Companies  (SBAC) demanding 21st century supply chain (SC21) programme and achieved a Bronze recognition award. In March 2008, TT electronics announced that it achieved accreditation to AS9100 for the Rogerstone site, qualifying it to manufacture safety critical flight systems for the aerospace industry, a key step in achieving the SC21 award.

John Molloy, TT electronics integrated manufacturing services Divisional Director commented, “SC21 is testament to our business and manufacturing excellence, and our success in improving efficiency by reducing duplication and eliminating waste. These objectives are a continuous focus for TT electronics at Rogerstone and at our other four sites around the world. We are proud to have achieved this exceptional independent endorsement of our performance in delivering on goals that are central to our relationship with all of our customers.”

Mr. Molloy added, “We are particularly grateful to Cobham Communications and Ultra Electronics, our sponsors for the program. I congratulate Chris Wixcey, the SC21 Programme Manager at Rogerstone, and his team on their achievement. For TT electronics this award is a step in an on-going process of continuous improvement, and we are now working towards achieving a Silver award.”

According to Phil Curnock, SBAC SC21 UK Programme Manager, “The future of the UK aerospace and defence industry depends on having an efficient supply chain if we are to remain globally competitive. I believe that SC21 is the way to achieve that. Clearly TT electronics deserves its recognition for achieving sustainable improvement through collaborative working with their key customers. Clearly this is delivering tangible benefits to both customers and supplier.”

The presentation was made at the recent SC21 Task force meeting at General Dynamics in Newbridge. TT electronics became a signatory to SC21 in November 2007, and sits on the Aerospace Wales steering group. SC21 is an independent initiative from the SBAC to improve the competitiveness of the aerospace & defence industry by raising the performance of its supply chains. SBAC is the UK's national trade association representing companies supplying civil air transport, defence, homeland security and space, and encompasses over 2,600 companies including the British Aviation Group and UKspace as well as Farnborough International Limited who are responsible for the Farnborough Airshow.
