TT electronics reveals secret of group
companies’ SC21 achievements
Internal
cooperation is key additional commitment
enabling business units to set faster pace
for supply-chain improvement
Weybridge, UK, 23 July 2010
- TT electronics, the global electronics
group supplying the world’s leading defence
and aerospace manufacturers, has announced
rapid progress by its divisions committed to
the aerospace industry’s 21st
Century Supply Chains (SC21) improvement
programme. The divisions are cooperating
internally to accelerate improvements and
increase value for customers.
Welwyn Components is the latest TT group
company to achieve SC21 accreditation,
having recently won bronze recognition by
A|D|S, the organisation that originated and
manages the programme. The group’s contract
assembly business, TT electronics -
integrated manufacturing services, has also
announced re-accreditation to bronze
standard following its latest audit. In
addition, New Chapel Electronics is
submitting its first exposition for
assessment by A|D|S, and expects to receive
initial SC21 recognition when this is
completed.
With other TT group companies BI
Technologies and Semelab also about to begin
preparing for SC21 audit,
Harvey Preston, divisional director, described how the
five companies are working together to
promote SC21 objectives and increase the
pace of progress. “SC21 provides an
effective framework for continuously
improving cooperation between supply-chain
partners, with metrics covering business
excellence and manufacturing excellence. As
such, it complements the industry-standard
quality management systems already in place
at TT group companies, such as AS9100.
“Our group companies have the additional
benefit of working together through
activities such as internal cluster events
providing extra opportunities to learn
together and share experiences and
information. This will help them progress
more quickly along their individual SC21
journeys, and ultimately deliver extra value
for customers through stronger supply chain
relationships, greater efficiency and
increased competitiveness.”
Underlining the importance of defence and
aerospace sectors to the TT group, Harvey
added that the group’s commitment to SC21
was progressing alongside several other
initiatives including intensive use of
web-based information and communication
channels to maintain and increase knowledge
of the defence sector. “We are committed to
increasing our presence and growing our
share of this important market by delivering
dependable, innovative services that add
value for our customers.”
